Home ▪ Dayang Island

Dayang Island (or Pulau Dayang, as it is known locally) is located approximately 65km west of Johor. It is part of the 5 islands, together with Pulau Aur, Pulau Lang, Pulau Pinang, together with Pulau Pemanggil, that make up a distinct offshore region of Johor Marine Park. With their crystal blue waters and abundant marine life, this is one of Malaysia’s most popular site amongst divers all around.

Dayang and Aur dive sites noted for their diversity. Open water, advance open water and more experienced divers have a choice of ranging from shore dives for shallow reefs to more challenging rocky depths. Dayang and Aur have been the site of many sightings of whale shark and manta rays on the right season.

This was my first time even attempting scuba diving. The class was fun and informative. It was great preparation for the dive. The dive itself was absolutely fabulous! This was truly one of the best experiences of my life.

Diving Season

During the months of March to November, you can expect to have great weather by day, and a fantastic view of the starry night after dark in Pulau Dayang. Between November to March, the Northeast monsoon makes it more challenging to dive, and most divers will prefer to dive in Phuket, Thailand instead.

Pulau Lang is the mouth of the southern end of the channel. Lang is commonly used for check out dives at Dayang Island due to the calm conditions of the bays

“Lang Bay”, situated on the eastern side is one of the favourite site for conducting open water dive classes. Advantages are its proximity to the resort, and its generally sheltered conditions, shallow reef and sandy sea bed.

The the western side of Pulau Lang is shattered with several bays and pockets of coral growth at shallow depth of about 10 m. This area is a good first dive and introducing night diving. Common sightings are batfishes, nudibranch moral eel and box fishes stays around the reefs. At night, one can find hermit crab, eel, scorpionfish, cuttlefish etc.
